The METS - Introduction
The METS is a unique two-year MA with a year abroad, spent studying at two different partner universities in the METS consortium. Launched in 2004, the METS is conceived as a specialized second-‐year (Master 2) MA programme in the Bologna framework. The partner universities are Haute Ecole de Bruxelles (ISTI), Haute Ecole Léonard de Vinci (HLMH), Institut de Management et de Communication interculturels (ISIT), KU Leuven, Thomas More Campus, Antwerp, Université Catholique de l’Ouest Angers, University of Swansea, Universitat Pompeu Fabra Barcelona, Universität Leipzig, Universität Wien, Università di Bologna, Universidad Pontificia de Comillas Madrid and Universidad de Salamanca.
Applicants must be on the point of completing at least 4 years in Higher Education, gaining 240 ECTS, of which 90 should be in the field of Translation. Applications are assessed on academic merit (including excellence in foreign languages), a personal statement of professional interest, and the coherence of their proposed study programme.
In the course of each mobility semester, students will complete a programme of 25 ECTS (i.e. 50 ECTS for the year),delivered and assessed entirely by each partner (host) institution under its own 11 regulations. The remaining 10 ECTS (20 credits) are devoted to a portfolio-‐based report which is written for and assessed by the home institution.
Each host institution offers a distinct set of specialization modules which complement the core MA programme offered by home institutions, making available an extensive pool of options which no single institution could provide on its own. The fact that these will also be studied in two institutions abroad adds valuable cultural experience to a prestigious academic programme with very high employability.
